If you could balance the Suboxone film under your tongue in front of the mirror

Anything about buprenorphine that doesn't fit somewhere above, fit it here!

If you could balance the Suboxone film under your tongue in front of the mirror

Post by ZenTrip »

So I’m working towards achieving maximum absorption with Suboxone films. Using the 8mg film strips, I’ll sometimes divide them into 4mg, 2mg, 1mg and 1mg pieces respectively.

I’m always wondering about the most effective way to take this medication. I’ve found that I can balance part of the strip under my tongue for hours in front of the mirror.

Is this an effective way?
To watch it dissolve in the mirror, with your mouth wide open and tongue raised up? Or does your mouth need to remain closed to ensure proper saliva flow?

Almost like a walrus balancing a ball on its nose, I can often keep the burp there in the same spot! Underneath my tongue, resting on the two larger veins. As I watch it dissolve for hours in front of the mirror.

Or, would you recommend just using the traditional dosing method? Placing the entire 8mg strip underneath the tongue.
Does it help to get rid of the mirrors?
Or does the mirror help to ensure proper placement?

Also, once you close your mouth, what should you do from there?
I’ll often find I can taste the medication as it makes contact with the surface, but will slowly dissipate over time.

I was taught that buprenorphine, especially when used as a patch, is supposed to periodically release a steady amount of the medication. So, with regards to the film. What is the best way to ensure it gets absorbed into the bloodstream?
Thank you

Zen, how many times are you going to post about this and expect different answers than you have already recieved? I think you should get the long acting injection each month and go on with your life. I suppose then you would perseverate over the lump in your abdomen.

Okay, let me rephrase.
Also, only a couple of people have responded.
I could count the number of users on one hand.
1-2-3-4 only like 5 people ever answered.

Anyways! My new question is then referring to the proper dosage of Suboxone.

For example, with an 8mg strip you can split it in half, creating 4mg and 4mg. I often do this, and taking either 4mg or 2mg at a time. This will last seemingly for hours.

Seriously like 12 hours at a time.
Holding the liquid saliva underneath my tongue.
After an elapsed period of time, the taste still remains.
Where the orange goo has made contact with the surface.

Anyways, when trying to increase my dosage, since I hold my juices in for so long, after 8-12 hours there doesn’t seem to be much of a point. It makes more sense to call it a day, and then try again the following morning/afternoon.

I guess maybe that’s why they say buprenorphine has a half life of 32 hours!

Anyways, just wanted to check in with other posters on this forum. Do you guys have experience with the film lasting for hours at a time? I can really stretch a piece as big as 2mg or especially 4mg for hours and even fall asleep with it still.

I’d like to get back on a higher dose like 16mg or 24mg.
My doctor previously has prescribed me to be at 24mg.

I’d have to swallow early in order to administer additional films on top of the one already being absorbed. Sometimes it seems like it would be more beneficial to just maximize the absorption of what is already dissolving in your mouth, under your tongue; than opening up a brand new one! Then you could save that perfectly preserved Suboxone 8mg/2mg film strip for the next day
