| b and b sheilds |

Ok so i have blue and blue sheilds and they have been covering suboxone one pill a day at forty five bucks a month. So i called last week and preapproved the generic subtex(bupe ) and they said oh ya its covered for thirty a month. I asked my doc to switch me and they did and i got to the pharmacy today and suprise five pills in the bottle. They only cover five at a time so the generic will cost me fifteen bucks more plus im supposed to go six times a month to pick them up. Idiots. So im thinking of letting them fill it every five days till it builds up to thirty and getting them all at once. I've tried everything from calling the insurance for a waiver to my doc calling the insurance and they said the only option is to talk to the h.r. department at my work. I bet i do that. Idiots! If anyone has experience with this situation please write back. I have some subs saved back where i could wait a while and let them fill five pills every five days for thirty days and pick them up at once if the pharmacy will do that. I just don't know about bupe going through my work insurance every five days at approx 70 times a year? I can always go back to the suboxone but i don't like the nalaxone in my body when there is no need for it

Holy wow i've never heard of any such thing in my life!! And $30 for generic?!?! I have blue cross and i could have paid $6 for generic subutex and $40 for namebrand subutex. Are you sure your insurance company isnt talking about namebrand subutex? On another note, this blows my mind. That sound like a hassle more than anything. I may be completely off base with thinking what i do but i guess everybodys coverage plan is different or possibly difference in state or something. I get 60 namebrand subutex for $40 one time a month. Man, i feel for you. I mean, i would definitely do anything for my recovery even if it meant getting the med every 5 days but this beats all i've ever heard of. Also, like i said thats pretty high for generic. I could be wrong but im just going from what my coverage is with BCBS(blue cross blue shield). Im sure others will be commenting and helping you further. Im sorry i probably didnt give you what you were looking for but i just wanted to at least give you my 2 sense. _________________ "Drugs are nothing but a dead end street with no street lights"

Sixty a month for generic. And its all about the company rickett i bet. They did the same thing a year ago when i swapped from methadone to subutex but it was eight bucks a pill and don't forget (five at a time) thanks for siding with me though. Appreciate it man

I need to be thankfull i have a great doctor and i have insurance that will at least pay for the name brand. I've heard that you can just not swallow for fifteen minutes and spit out the nalaxone but im not totally sure about it myself, i've done that but i freaking stress over thinking about it. If they cover the strips do you think that i could wait twenty minutes and spit that nalaxone crud out?

BC/BS is different for everyone. It depends on your particular policy (like through your job). So my BC/BS coverage will be different than another's. As for the naloxone, even if you swallow it, it is completely inert when taken sublingually. It does not absorb in the mouth like the bupe does. If it were me, I would just go back on the suboxone....much less of a hassle. But yes, even with the films you can spit instead of swallowing. Good luck with it all! _________________ -As I have grown older, I've learned that pleasing everyone is impossible, but pissing everyone off is a piece of cake.

If it were me, I would just go back to the suboxone. Even if you have the pharmacy save them up, they will still charge you seperately for each script. Each insurance plan is different, BUT, I am shocked that they would tell you to go talk to you HR department. That is ridiculous. You would want to file an appeal is what you would do. But under the circumstances, I wouldn't even bother with it. I would just go back on the suboxone. I have been on sub for three years. I just had a ton of bloodwork done including liver, kidneys, thyroid, blah blah blah. There has been no negative impact from the suboxone and all is functioning normally. They don't have any proof of any long term side effects from sub or the nalaxone. I wouldn't worry about it.

This is ridiculous. What a drag insurance can be. I love it when some bureaucrat in an office who doesn't even know me is making decisions on what medications should or should not be covered under my plan.

Yea I’m with Hat on this one NALOXONE has no affect what so ever if take the right way. SO why pay more for a generic if you can get name brand SUBOXONE for 15 less a month is my question? But really only 5 at a time now that’s some bullshit I’ve never heard of anything like that.
IF I was in your shoes I would just go back on SUBOXONE.
