| Rapid Opioid Rip-Off |
|
|
| |
While I’m on the subject of rip-offs, I’ll mention an extreme form of ‘detox capitalism’; a process called rapid opioid withdrawal, rapid detox, or ‘the Waismann Method.’ The name of the process supposedly comes from a certain ‘Dr. Waismann’ who helped Israeli soldiers get off opioids after they were treated for various injuries. It sounds [...]

I watched a program on TV years ago that documented the "Rapid Detox" of 3 individuals. Of course, I was smack dab in the middle of my heaviest using days and I was looking for that "secret way" to beat opiates without having to endure any discomfort at all. I was sure I had stumbled across the answer with a Rapid Detox.
I watched the program intently, paying close attention to every word said, every detail. I was going to cheat opiate withdrawal and come out the other side free as a bird!!
Well, everything went on swimmingly until the show had about ten minutes left in it and they showed these three individuals waking up from their Rapid Detox. You could tell by the look on their faces that something was rotten in Denmark! The show ended up keeping up with these individuals for several weeks after they emerged from their Rapid Detox and unfortunately they all felt like hell. I remember the one guy in particular was out for a walk and he could barely function...he was 3 days post detox.
So, like you, I remember asking myself why the heck would I want to drop all that cash on a detox that maybe only eliminates a day or two of withdrawal at best? I mean if you got the dough laying around and you have nothing better to do with it, then go ahead. But, it sure didn't seem worth it to me.
Another point Dr. J. brought up was their claim of a 70% success rate after 1 year. I find that highly suspicious as well. I too would like to see more data regarding that claim.

how could anyone expect a miracle from this .its almost like somebody believing that you could wake up and all your problems and habits be gone or even cured just throws me for a loop. Im just not that bright and can understand why it wouldn't work for me. You can't expect somebody to change who you have become in a day
