It may help you and educate.. hope this helps. His blog has taught me plenty. Best of luck.. razor.....

Well i went to the hospital bc i had flu like symptoms and couldnt keep food or water down so they collected my urine right away but never said ANYTHING about testing it or anything. During my stay there they gave ME morphine and percacet for pain bc i was in very bad pain, i told them i didnt really want to but they insisted. I didnt tell them i had been on suboxone bc i didnt want them to flip out and ask why and all of that so i just never said anything. on the second day after collecting a gallon of my pee they informed me they lost the gallon and i needed to wait bc they had to test it for pre ecplampsia or whatever its called. So i waited and finally they told me everything looked good but i was still sick so i stayed in the hospital another two days, on my last day right before they discharged me, they said they "looked back" and found opiates in my urine. then asked me about my prescription history, which this whole time i have gotten all my scripts from my same sub doctor i used to be on adderol and xanax but i dont take them but it shows i picked them up. So i told them yes i had been tapering suboxone with my doctor that was legally prescribing them to me and i just didnt feel comfortable telling them that bc i didnt want the judgment, and they said it didnt matter that it was prescribed to me that they still have to call CPS and i have to go to these appointments in 2 days... mind you im due in 3 days, im as big as a bus... im just extremely stressed out. Im going to my sub doctor tomorrow, hes been my doctor for 3 years he knows what ive taken he knows what ive been through hes a MD and a psychiatrist and he told me he would back me up 100% and told me that they cant take the baby they are just gonna try to screw w me. its just stressful. i feel like when they were discharging me and writing me the scripts they saw all the other scripts i had picked up in the past and they just thought i was a big liar for not telling them.

sorry for my grammer and spelling im just stressed and tired.

I'm so glad to hear that you've been getting through this OK so far. And that's fantastic news about your insurance! If only your appointment wasn't still 2 weeks away! You sound resourceful, though, and I'm sure you will find a way through the next couple weeks.

I don't have any knowledge on how to reach your state medical board, especially since I don't know your state. But I decided to look up how to file a complaint with Colorado's state board and it was quite easy. I googled "Colorado state medical board complaint" and it took me about five clicks to get to a complaint form to print and fill out. I think you should be able to find it in your state, but if you run into problems PM me and I can help you investigate.
Hey Boxed!! Thank you so much for the encouragement! He wrote me for one week. Lol. Which is better. I am scared because I don't want all of this to start affecting my work life. Unfortunately, doc has the power so I have to hope my work just bears with me thru my "appointments."
In a lot of ways I believe I did have a better than a junkie chip on my shoulder. And that's just not how most professionals will look at it. And since I have been "buying them off the street" in their eyes....I am a junkie. He was a lot easier to deal with today. He sensed my humility and worked with me much better but his oppinion of me is still very low. I unfortunately truly need sub. And he looks at sub as just a tool to begin life of complete sobriety. I don't feel that strong yet, but I have to do what me and baby need rt now. And maybe I can find another doctor after giving birth that understands sub long term.
I am probably in a program that is going to require weekly visits. That really sucks with my schedule. Sigh. One day at a time

The medical professionals I have dealt w so far have been incredibly judgemental towards me and my illegal sub use. Ironically, the sub dr I have seen once now, has treated me the worst of all these dr's. Pls update us on how your situation is going.

I was switched to subutex as soon as I found out I was pregnant, when I found out it was like 2 weeks before my next refill appt. and of course I called my sub doctor right away who by the way specializes in sub and pregnancy and she had me take my suboxone strips back to the pharmacy and trade them for subutex.. I dont know whether she called the pharmacy or sent in a new script, I just know she switched me right away. Its something with the naloxone, it could potentially be harmful to the baby, nobody knows because theres not much of anything on it.. doctors that know what theyre doing will switch you, its just an extra medication going into the baby that doesnt need to. If I were you I would definitely get switched, it might not hurt the baby but then again it could and I know I would not take ANY risks like that when it came to my unborn child. Feel free to ask anything you need to though, I can not stress enough how important it is to be educated about this med, especially being pregnant.

I did just a few minutes of Internet research and came across a pretty excellent link for you. You may have already seen it. If so...great! If not, maybe a moderator could post it as a "sticky" at the top of this pregnancy section for others to easily find it.
What made me happy to find this is that it's new!...from May of 2012! And the last time I searched for anything like this, there was hardly any literature about bupe and pregnancy....and it's from ACOG!

http://www.acog.org/Resources_And_Publications/Committee_Opinions/Committee_on_Health_Care_for_Underserved_Women/Opioid_Abuse_Dependence_and_Addiction_in_Pregnancy

The article confirms the drugs to avoid which may precipitate withdrawal...Stadol, Nubain, Talwin and it suggests that pain medications should be titrated up to about a 50% increase from the usual standard dosages. Personally, I think that's a conservative estimate...I'd lean more towards a double dose! The other thing it reminded me to tell you was to ask for Toradol (ketorolac) postpartum.

I was curious about what was said about the need for going up to 24mg a day of bupe because bupe is known to have a ceiling effect which made it seem to me that dose increases wouldn't be necessary. The article did suggest that with methadone, dosage increases are often necessary due to the blood volume increase with pregnancy. But with bupe, I think it was suggested to go to split dosing rather than dose increase. I'm not disputing what Beautifulmess did...obviously she was following her doctor's order and everything went great for her baby. I'm just mentioning it in an effort to provide information for future readers who might make the assumption that because they are pregnant, they need to up their bupe dose, even well over the usual standard maximum dose of 16mg a day (I think that's still the standard, anyway.).

Disclaimer...I did not study the article, just read through it, so if I've misstated anything, I apologize and please correct me. I'm not a doctor or an expert, so my opinions are just that. That's why I love it when we can find articles, especially professional ones, to help us sort opinions and personal experience from expert studies, findings and conclusions.

Unfortunately, I did not find a lot of info about the meconium testing except that I was wrong about there being a cutoff level. There is no cutoff with mec testing because there should be no illicit substances there. However, there is a minimal level that has to be there for detection...and I still think/hope that maybe there's a chance your one slip up won't be detected.

I hope the article helps. Maybe you can print it and give a copy to your OB and one to the RN upon your admission to L & D. Jennifer, please keep your mind open to the epidural for labor...especially if you have to be induced or if your labors tend to be lengthy. I don't want you to have more pain than you can or want to handle.
