I was first prescribed percocet for my tonsillectomy about 3 years ago when I was 20. Naturally I enjoyed the high, and began recreationally using percocet, maybe once a month. This gradually turned into a weekly thing, and eventually to where I am now. For the past year and a half, I have used roxi 30s on average 3-4 times a week. Sometimes I'll go on a week binge, sometimes I'll take a few days off. The most I've taken in a day is 60 mg, which doesn't sound like a lot, but I'm finding it harder and harder to live without. I need to stop before it spirals out of control. I'd like to do it cold turkey. Any advice, tips,, encouraging words would be such a big help. Thanks in advance.

Welcome dopestdope,
The sooner you get off this roller coaster friend, the better. I think you can do it fairly quickly. If it were me, I would go for the gusto and load yourdelf up w/ all the comfort needs you can get. You can google what exactly you will want for an opiate detox. Usually gatorade, advil, chicken broth, hot bathes, a few sets of sheets in case you sweat thru the ones you got, Some immodium for the shits, maybe some mint tea for nausea, sleepy time tea to help you sleep. I would not advise you to take any more pills, but many people use a valium or something like that to sleep. I believe since your situation is not yet that deep you will come out of this relatively smooth. You are so young, get the hell out of your situation ASAP. You will thank yourself for it later. Just look at all the people on this forum that started out using just recreationally and now they are 40 50 60 even 70 and on sub for the long haul. Many of then very ill. Everything from liver failure to HIV. TRUST ME you do NOT want to be where they are EVER! GOOD luck and keep posting...

I appreciate the wise words. At this point, the hardest part is more emotional than physical. I can go a week with really no physical symptoms besides anxiety and restlessness (if you refer to those as physical), but it's really just the difficulty of saying no to them, knowing how good they will make me feel. I guess it has to be the strength of my mind over matter that will ultimately keep me clean.

Yes Dopestdope, that IS the problem. I find the craving to be the worst part. You have reached out for help. Obviously you do not have a physical addiction. You DO have addictive personality. BE VERY aware of this. You are very young. You have your entire life ahead of you. Remember that every choice you make will impact your life for years to come. I have a cousin who is just 23. She is a full blown heroin addict AND she smokes speed too. She has been an addict since 12 years old. She is beautiful, well, WAS beautiful. Her life IS A MESS! She is a call girl, she works just to pay her rent and buy her drugs. When she cant find drugs she takes methadone. She lies to her entire family, she has no real friends, no boyfriend. She does not go out or socialise with people her own age. I wont even talk to her mainly BC she is in active addiction and when people are in active addiction (actively using) they are self centered. They can not be a friend BC all they can think about is their drugs. Their situation, their high, their everything. It is very very sad. She will FOREVER be an addict and be fihgting this disease. PLEASE read all you can about this issue you are facing. Find a support group. You owe it to yourself to STOP this before it becomes a full blown addiction. Frankly my friend, it sounds like you could be on your way. You can avoid many years of HELL by stoping this behavior ASAP. It is not a piece of cake but at the stage you are at, you could very easily skip thru all the BS and get straight to living a happy healthy life. Find something to get involved with. Go to school, sports, charity, volonteer, do something other than thinking about getting high. Being bored is NEVER a good thing. It is where all my trouble began. I sure hop others will see your post and reply. There are some really smart people on this forum, hopefully they can help you make the right choices.. I do wish you luck, TRUST me, for your own good and of those who love you, GET AWAY from the people that give you drugs. (they are NOT your friend)(misery loves company)

I'm telling you...QUIT NOW. You are headed for hella ride. Right now, with the amount you take. You can cold turkey. When I was on that much, i quit cold turkey and it was a walk in the park compared to the nightmare you 100% WILL endure if you keep on. My advice is to do like the other poster said and get some comfort meds and just quit. I would even suggest some kind of support/therapy/counsling. Tell people you trust that dont use, to help you out. You CAN do this. You already know its what you have to do. You can do it! Good Luck! Come back and ask questions and read some threads...it helps Smile
